Every month on the first Wednesday, Thunderbird Clubhouse holds a celebration dinner where we celebrate the progress, achievements, and birthdays of our colleagues. On alternating months, we go out to eat at a local restaurant, or hold a potluck—but either way, we have lots of food, fun, and friends. At our most recent Celebration Dinner at The Dancing Crab, we asked members and staff why Celebration Dinner is fun and important to them.
“Celebrate life and your accomplishments or success. You’re not by yourself. You have people to support and to applaud you for even just a little bitty thing, and also that I don’t have to eat alone, I can be like having a party, you know, when we go out to celebrate. I never go out to eat, so this is just a beautiful, beautiful celebration. Beautiful, and otherwise it would be kind of you know lonely and depressing. So I’m so glad to be here.”
“I like the chicken strips.”
“Because it celebrates everybody’s accomplishments, education. Just about them”

“This is the best shrimp bowl I’ve ever had. It’s fantastic! I think the clubhouse is a good, safe place for people to find recovery, it benefits a lot of people and I’m grateful. Thank you so much.”
